Yes, we will be out exploring the country in an RV. However this won't be all fun and games. The kids still have to be educated. We've already been homeschooling for the past two years, learning through textbooks.
However, with the limited storage space on an RV, using textbooks didn't seem to be the best option. After some research, I discovered
Alpha Omega Publications and their "Switched-On Schoolhouse" (SOS) curriculum. The SOS program is a complete interactive curriculum on CD-ROMS that the kids can use on a laptop computer as well as an online teacher support system. Along with that we will be learning geography and American history up close.
Along the way, we will be visiting many historical sites, landmarks, museums, state capitals, and much more. No more photos in a textbook, but a truly hands on experience. So join us as we take homeschooling on the road in our mobile RV school.
As we get started, we will be updating this page and a category in our
Message Boards where homeschoolers (and other students) can ask our two boys about what they've learned along the road. Homeschoolers from across the country can follow along as we update this section with stories and photos of the different museums and sites we've visited.
